Join us in SATSANG: A way to find peace, clarity & calmness at this time in the suffering of the World….At this time I feel we truly need this added support in our lives.Dear friends near and far….I would like to tell you a story…One of the true essence which has given me much comfort and at times been turning points in my life, have been when I’ve attended a satsang…Which I have sat in many with various teachers, Swami, and guides whilst being in India.
One of the reasons I like to visit India is to take part in such gatherings…Some time tears have rolled as soon as I enter the silence of the room, sometimes my heart has burst open with love and joy, or times I’ve felt deeper compassion to myself and other beings, other moments I’ve experienced the suffering the mind places upon us, awareness of the duality of it all.In a satsang we usually chant and sing devotional songs and mantras which up-lift the soul.As some of you know….I only managed to take 2.5 weeks of my trip in India in March, I had much plans for my time away…Anyhow, the story is the story…Still in that time and decision making of returning to the U.K, I was in touch with my yogi friends whom offered me guidance and support and still offer support at this time….If it’s by physical practices or by deeper retrospection of weekly satsang, which I’m heartily very grateful for, and brings to me much calmness….I feel it’s good to seek the support of our teachers and guides in these troubling times.I have been speaking to my dear friend Swami Atma, whom I’m in weekly contact with and whom currently runs his weekly satsang on a Sunday India time 4pm….I’ve asked to him if he would kindly join with me in a zoom meeting, so as we can introduce to you satsang, as we join together in peace & prayer. Please leave me a name or a yes if interested, You can be anywhere around the World and we’ll arrange a suitable time – I am thinking on a Monday a.m around 6.30 – 6.45 a.m U.K time before the start of my Monday yoga class. It may just be once in a while, but we’d like at least to start something off.
Here Swami Atma has kindly given the explanation of what is a satsang."Satsang is getting together of the like minded people to feel that we are all connected, we all belong to the same existence. The satsang helps one to be centered, to be away from the feeling that ” I am lonely ” but on the other hand we feel we are connected to something which we never knew…..that gives us the feeling that we are Nourished both at the physical and the mental level. We can feel that the whole existence is part of oneself and are part of the greater freedom within."
Meditation (sanskrit ‘Dhyana”) can be described as “to experience totality of oneself”. As swami Atma ji says in one of his wisdom talk “meditation is the way to inner tranquility and the path to discover the source of your real “Self”. Any mind fluctuation will dissolve to total stillness and soundness for those who learn how to meditate and control the breath. The way you talk, manage everyday things, look at your problems will also change. Meditation practitioners can notice positive effects even if they meditate only 20 minute per day. Here is some benefits of meditation: helps you stay focus and think clear, improves your ability to work under the stress, brings natural calmness and stillness, enhance self-awareness, busts your creativity, lessens worry and impulsivity, improves emotional intelligence etc. Many our students have managed to find the inner strength to deal with their problems and learnt how not to be effected by life situations after a series of meditation classes with Swami ji.Swami Atma ji giving his students guided meditation classes using variety of techniques like mindful breathing, sound awareness, body scan etc.
Music is part of our life. There are subtle sounds which can be healing. Today, scientists are working on sounds which can heal many diseases. Most of the people are in great depression, because of the high expectation of the society. So they feel totally isolated and insecure. But, by listening to the gentle sounds, there can be a great possibility for one to understand that certain frequencies of sound match with the inner frequency of that person. When the both frequencies synchronies, there is a healing at the deeper level of the inner system. Various kinds of instruments can be used for healing, like sitar and veena, flute, singing bowls and bells.
